The available Duramax 6.6L Turbo-Diesel V8 engine (standard on Denali Ultimate) provides exceptional hauling abilities thanks to its almost 1000 lb-ft of torque and 470 horsepower. In 2500HD models, towing capacity reaches up to 22,390 pounds with the regular cab configuration, gooseneck hitch and the Max Trailering Package. Conventional towing caps off at 20,000 pounds in crew cab models.
In 3500HD models, maximum towing capacity when properly equipped is a massive 36,000 pounds. You’ll be hard-pressed to find something to tow that exceeds that maximum. Conventional towing remains the same as 2500HD variants.
2. Premium Appointments
With the Sierra HD, drivers have their choice of luxury appointments. When only the best will do, that’s where the Denali and Denali Ultimate models shine. Both offer power-adjustable front seats with heating, ventilation, and massage. In the Denali Ultimate, the seats are upholstered in full-grain Alpine Umber leather and the rear seats are also heated. Authentic open-pore wood can be found in both trims, along with a 12-speaker Bose audio system, and 13.4-inch touchscreen.
3. Advanced Trailering Technology
For 2025, all Sierra HD models come with a trailer brake controller. Up to 13 available camera views support trailering, parking, and maneuvering. The Transparent Trailer View is particularly helpful when changing lanes or reversing.
Other available trailer tech includes trailering mirrors, trailer light tests, predeparture checklists, and trailer sway control. Several trims com standard with Adaptive Cruise Control with Trailering, which accounts for increased drag and braking distances with a trailer in tow.
4. Versatile MultiPro Tailgate
SLT trims and higher come with the MultiPro Tailgate, offering six unique functions that improve cargo access, loading, and worksite functionality. A primary gate and inner gate both fold downwards or upwards in various combinations. A work surface can be created by folding up the inner gate, while easier bed access is created by folding it down. Two load stops support more versatile cargo configurations, while a step makes getting in or out of the bed easier.
Brawn combined with intelligence make the GMC Sierra HD a force to be reckoned with in the heavy-duty pickup world. Whether you want to improve your work abilities or be able to support a big fifth-wheel trailer, the Sierra HD is your partner for the task.
